Welcome to DoraBot

Welcome to DoraBot, a Discord bot designed to enhance your experience on Discord by providing various tools and functionalities to users across the Discord platform. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of DoraBot, whether as an individual user or a server administrator. Please read these terms carefully and familiarise yourself with them.

DoraBot is developed and managed by Zak The GoAnimator, referred to in this document as “Zak,” “ZTGA,” or “Zak The GoAnimator.” DoraBot itself is a service that provides in-server utilities, moderation helpers, informational commands, and optional integrations with third-party APIs. While Zak oversees DoraBot’s development, the bot’s operation is managed as its own service and delivered under these Terms.

These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and the DoraBot team for the use of the bot and any related web interfaces, APIs, dashboards, or developer tools that may be provided (collectively, the “Service”). By inviting, installing, enabling, accessing, or otherwise using DoraBot, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all versions and components of the Service, including beta features, public releases, and any customisations or add-ons offered by the DoraBot team. We reserve the right to change the Service, its features, or these Terms; when material changes are made we will publish a changelog and, where practicable, notify server owners through our support server or other communication channels.

Defined Terms

  • “We”, “Us”, or “Our” refer to DoraBot as a service or the DoraBot development team.
  • “The Bot” refers specifically to DoraBot as a utility or service deployed on Discord servers.
  • “ZTGA”, “Zak”, or “Zak The GoAnimator” refer to the creator and owner of DoraBot, including his associated entities.
  • “Discord” refers to the communication platform on which DoraBot operates, governed by its own Terms of Service and policies.
  • “You”, “Your”, or “User” refers to any individual or entity interacting with DoraBot, whether as a server owner, moderator, or general user.
  • “Support Server” refers to the Discord server dedicated to providing assistance and updates for DoraBot.
  • “Content” means any text, images, messages, commands, files, or other material you transmit through DoraBot or submit to the Service.
  • “Personal Data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person that DoraBot may collect or process.
  • “Logs” refers to metadata and operational records kept by DoraBot for troubleshooting, analytics, moderation, or compliance purposes.
  • “Administrator” or “Server Owner” means the user(s) with ultimate control of a Discord server where DoraBot is installed.

Understanding these terms will help you interpret the clauses below. If a term used in these Terms is not defined above, it will be given its ordinary meaning unless the context requires otherwise.

General Usage

By using DoraBot, you agree to these Terms of Service, which define the conditions of access and use. DoraBot is provided on a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable basis for your use in accordance with these Terms.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that DoraBot will be error-free, secure from interruption, or compatible with every server configuration or third-party plugin. You are responsible for configuring DoraBot’s permissions and settings in a manner consistent with your server’s policies and your community’s expectations.

The scope of permitted use includes typical community moderation and information features (for example: moderation tools, welcome messages, role management helpers, scheduled announcements, informational commands, and optional integrations such as weather or search APIs). You may not use DoraBot for commercial resale or to offer DoraBot as a public-facing paid service to third parties unless explicitly authorised in writing by the DoraBot development team.

DoraBot is subject to rate limits and fair-use policies. Excessive or abusive use (such as automated bulk requests beyond normal command behaviour, spamming of commands, or misuse of APIs) may be throttled, limited, or blocked. If you require a higher usage tier for a legitimate high-volume application, contact us via the support server to discuss options.

Access to certain features may require additional permissions, configuration, or opt-in from a server Administrator. You acknowledge that we may log certain activity to operate, diagnose, and improve the Service; see the “Data Collection and Privacy” section below for details on what is logged, how long it is retained, and how to request deletion or export of your data.

Prohibited Activities

Users of DoraBot must refrain from engaging in activities that violate these terms, Discord’s terms, or applicable laws. Prohibited actions include but are not limited to:

  • Attempting to hack, manipulate, reverse-engineer, or exploit DoraBot or any of its components, including API endpoints, dashboards, or hosting infrastructure.
  • Using DoraBot to distribute harmful, illegal, or inappropriate content, including but not limited to child sexual abuse material, material facilitating wrongdoing, or content that encourages or organises violent or criminal acts.
  • Inviting DoraBot to servers whose primary purpose is to host or promote NSFW, exploitative, or otherwise illicit content in violation of Discord’s terms.
  • Utilising DoraBot to harass, stalk, bully, or doxx other users; sending unsolicited mass messages (spam); or using the Service to bypass Discord’s communication protections.
  • Using DoraBot to attempt to gain unauthorised access to third-party services or to scrape, collect, or redistribute personal data without lawful basis or consent.
  • Creating or configuring commands that solicit or collect sensitive personal data (for example: government identifiers, financial account details, health diagnoses) without appropriate consent and safeguards.
  • Impersonating DoraBot staff or creating messages that could reasonably be mistaken for official communications from DoraBot or Zak The GoAnimator.

The foregoing list is illustrative and not exhaustive. We reserve the right to take action against activities that we reasonably conclude are abusive, harmful, or inconsistent with the intended use of the Service. Enforcement measures may include warnings, temporary or permanent suspension, blacklisting, or referral to legal authorities as described in the “Enforcement of Terms” section.

Server Authorization

DoraBot only operates in servers where it has been explicitly invited by authorised members. Invitations are performed using Discord’s OAuth system and require that the person inviting the bot has sufficient permissions to grant the requested scopes.

Where a server owner or responsible administrator has not directly invited DoraBot, but a member with the necessary permissions invites the bot, the invitation is considered an authorisation for the bot to operate in that server unless and until the server owner expressly revokes it. We strongly recommend that server owners regularly review which bots are installed on their servers and which permissions they have been granted.

DoraBot will only act within the permissions explicitly granted to it. The recommended permission set for typical operation is:

  • View Channels
  • Send Messages
  • Manage Messages (optional; required for message moderation features)
  • Embed Links
  • Read Message History
  • Manage Roles (optional; required for role-assignment features)

Server owners retain full control. To revoke DoraBot’s access, the server owner may remove the bot from the server, adjust its role/permissions, or disable specific features via any administrative dashboard provided. DoraBot will not make administrative changes (such as banning or kicking) unless explicitly instructed via a command with the necessary permissions.

Age Requirements

DoraBot is intended for users who are at least 13 years old, in alignment with Discord’s Terms of Service and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) framework. By using DoraBot you affirm that you meet this age requirement.

We do not knowingly collect or store personal information from users under 13. If it is discovered that a user is underage, we will take reasonable steps to remove that user’s data and revoke their access. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us via the support server so we can promptly address the issue.

For users aged 13 to 18, parental or guardian oversight is recommended. Users under 18 should review these Terms with a parent or guardian and should obtain permission before providing personal information or engaging with features that collect or share data.

Limitation of Liability

DoraBot is provided “as is” and “as available,” without any guarantees of uptime, reliability, or functionality. While we strive to provide a seamless experience, technical issues, maintenance, or third-party service interruptions may impact performance.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, neither DoraBot nor Zak The GoAnimator will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of goodwill, loss of data, or loss of business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

Our total aggregate liability for any direct damages arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be limited to one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100), except where local law prohibits such limitation. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for certain types of damages; where such prohibitions apply, they will not be affected by this clause.

Examples of situations not covered under this limitation include fraud, wilful misconduct, or liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Third-Party Integrations

DoraBot integrates with various third-party services and APIs to provide some features (for example: search providers, weather services, image providers, or analytics tools).

Third-party integrations are subject to the terms, privacy policies, and rate limits of the respective providers. If a third-party service changes or discontinues access, related DoraBot features may become degraded or unavailable. We are not responsible for the content or functionality of third-party services, nor for their security practices.

When configuring integrations, ensure you only grant the minimum permissions necessary for the features you intend to use, and avoid sharing sensitive keys in public channels. In certain cases we may store encrypted tokens to maintain an integration; those tokens are handled in accordance with the “Data Collection and Privacy” section.

Content Responsibility

Users are solely responsible for the content they generate, share, or transmit through DoraBot. Any misuse of the bot to distribute spam, harmful material, or content that violates Discord’s policies is strictly prohibited.

By using DoraBot you acknowledge that you are responsible for reviewing and moderating content posted through the bot in your server. DoraBot may offer optional moderation tools such as profanity filters, automated moderation rules, or rate-limiting features; these tools are provided as helpers and do not replace active server moderation by human administrators.

DoraBot may monitor or log content to the extent necessary to operate the Service, respond to abuse reports, and comply with legal obligations. When we receive reports of content that violates these Terms or applicable law, we may remove content, restrict features, or take other corrective actions.

If you believe content hosted or distributed through DoraBot violates your rights or these Terms, please submit a report through our support server with relevant details (timestamps, message IDs, and a clear description). We will review reports and take reasonable action when appropriate.

Enforcement of Terms

Violations of these Terms of Service will result in consequences, including but not limited to:

  • Blacklisting your Discord account and preventing access to DoraBot.
  • Immediate removal of DoraBot from the offending server or disabling of specific features.
  • Reporting severe violations to Discord or relevant authorities when required by law or when such action is necessary to stop ongoing harm.

Our enforcement actions are intended to protect users and the broader community. When feasible, we will attempt to warn users before taking more severe action. In cases involving clear and immediate harm, we may act without prior notice.

If you believe you have been unfairly penalised, you may appeal via the support server. Provide the relevant context, evidence, and a clear explanation for why you believe the action was mistaken. While we review appeals in good faith, decisions regarding enforcement are made by DoraBot staff and may be final. We will, however, consider legitimate remediation requests and may reinstate access where appropriate.

Data Collection and Privacy

For greater reference, please refer to our Privacy Policy located at /privacy. This section provides a summary of the types of data DoraBot may collect and how that data is used.

Types of Data Collected

  • Command and Interaction Logs: Records of commands issued to the bot and bot responses necessary for troubleshooting and analytics.
  • Server Configuration: Channel IDs, role IDs, and permission settings required to operate and configure the bot’s features.
  • Usage Analytics: Aggregated, anonymised metrics used to improve the Service (e.g., command frequency, feature adoption).
  • Optional Integration Data: Encrypted tokens or keys required to maintain connections to third-party services when explicitly authorised by a server admin.

How We Use This Data

  • To operate and maintain the Service, including troubleshooting, bug fixing, and feature improvements.
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, or misuse of the Service.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain logs and configuration data for as long as necessary to provide the Service and to meet legal or regulatory obligations. When a server removes DoraBot or requests deletion of data, we will take reasonable steps to delete non-essential data within a commercially reasonable timeframe. Certain aggregated or anonymised analytics may be retained indefinitely for internal analysis.

User Access and Control

Server owners and administrators can control many aspects of the bot’s data footprint by configuring features, disabling optional integrations, and removing the bot from their server. To request deletion, export, or correction of data associated with your account, contact us via the support server with the necessary identifiers (for example: server ID, message IDs, and the Discord account involved). We will review legitimate requests and respond as required by applicable law.

Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data from unauthorised access, disclosure, or destruction. These measures may include encryption of stored tokens, access controls for administrative interfaces, and routine security reviews. However, no service can be guaranteed completely secure, and you should exercise caution when sharing sensitive information.

If a data incident affecting the security of user data is discovered, we will take steps to contain and remediate the incident and, where required by law, notify affected users and authorities in accordance with applicable regulations.

Intellectual Property

All code, design, features, trademarks, and content of DoraBot are the intellectual property of Zak The GoAnimator, except where third-party libraries or services are used under separate licences.

You retain ownership of any content you upload or post through DoraBot (“User Content”). By submitting User Content you grant DoraBot a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, modify, publish, translate, distribute, and display such content as necessary to operate and promote the Service (for example, to deliver content back to your server or to provide support). This licence does not transfer ownership and is limited to the extent necessary to provide the Service.

You agree not to claim ownership of DoraBot’s source code, or to copy, mirror, or redistribute DoraBot in whole or in part without express written permission. Unauthorised attempts to access or replicate the Service’s backend, distribution of modified copies of the bot as “official” DoraBot, or public distribution of proprietary code will be considered a breach of these Terms and may lead to legal action.

Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, update, deprecate, or discontinue any part of DoraBot at any time. Changes may include tweaking existing features, removing functionality, adding new features, or altering how existing features behave. These changes may be made for technical, security, legal, or policy reasons.

When we make material changes that impact a large portion of users, we will aim to publish a changelog and announce the modification on the support server and other communication channels. However, we do not guarantee notice in every circumstance (for example, emergency security changes might be applied immediately without prior notice).

You accept that feature availability may change and that the Service may evolve over time. We encourage server owners and administrators to monitor the changelog and to test new or beta features in a non-production environment before enabling them broadly.

Third-Party Services and Dependencies

DoraBot relies on a number of third-party services—such as cloud hosting providers, database services, analytics providers, and integrated APIs—to deliver functionality. These dependencies can affect uptime, feature availability, and performance. We aim to choose stable, reputable providers, but we cannot guarantee their continued operation or the terms they impose.

Where a feature depends on an external provider, the Service’s behaviour is contingent on that provider’s stability and terms. If a provider imposes new restrictions, changes pricing, or discontinues service, certain features may be limited or removed. We will evaluate alternatives and make reasonable efforts to restore functionality where possible.

Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to DoraBot for any user, account, or server at our discretion. Grounds for immediate suspension include but are not limited to: violations of these Terms, actions that materially harm other users, or requests by Discord or legal authorities.

Termination of access is ordinarily final, though we may reinstate access in exceptional cases at our sole discretion. Users whose access is suspended or terminated will be notified where possible and provided with an explanation of the reason(s) for the action when feasible.

If your server is suspended or the bot is removed, certain data (such as logs or configuration) may be retained for a period to allow investigation or to comply with legal obligations; see the “Data Collection and Privacy” section for more information.

Maintenance and Downtime

DoraBot may experience downtime for scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, or unexpected technical issues. We make reasonable efforts to minimise interruptions and to provide status updates on our support server or status page when available.

Scheduled maintenance windows may be announced in advance on the support server or via posted changelogs. For unscheduled outages we will try to communicate an estimated time-to-repair when practicable, but no guarantee of timeframes is provided. Users should design mission-critical workflows with this in mind and maintain backups or fallbacks where appropriate.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. By using DoraBot, you agree that any disputes arising from the use of DoraBot will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada, unless local law requires otherwise.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Indemnification

By using DoraBot, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zak The GoAnimator, DoraBot, and all associated entities and their officers, employees, agents, and representatives from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms of Service or any applicable law.
  • Your misuse of DoraBot or any acts or omissions by users of your server that involve the Service.
  • Third-party claims related to content you submit, host, or distribute via DoraBot.

If we become aware of a claim for which indemnification may be sought, we will notify you and may, at our discretion, participate in the defence or elect to assume control of defence. You agree to cooperate reasonably in the defence and resolution of any such claim.

Respect for Tim Hortons

In recognition of the deep cultural importance Tim Hortons holds within certain communities, and in keeping with the spirit of respect and light-hearted fun that DoraBot seeks to promote, users are hereby strongly discouraged from including DoraBot in any server that engages in repeated or institutionalised negativity toward Tim Hortons.

This guidance is intended to preserve what’s true and discourage what’s not. Specific examples of incompatible behaviour include:

  • Channels or threads dedicated to disparaging Tim Hortons products or services in a sustained or coordinated fashion.
  • Bots, commands, or recurring server events whose purpose is to mock or organise attacks on Tim Hortons or its employees.
  • Public campaigns that are designed to harass or defame Tim Hortons or to spread demonstrably false claims about the company.

We respect freedom of opinion and healthy criticism; however, persistent, organised, or malicious anti-Tim Hortons activity may be considered a violation of these Terms and could result in restrictions or removal of the Service from a server. Our goal is to foster respectful interaction and avoid creating spaces that encourage abusive behaviour.

Conclusion

Thank you for using DoraBot responsibly. By following these Terms of Service, you contribute to a safe and enjoyable environment for all users.
